A nominee for the A+PEL member of the year should be any professional, associate, or university member that represents A+PEL values and ideals as put forth in our Mission and Professional Creed. The following should be considered when nominating a member for this award.
Priority on Students
A+PEL is committed to providing students the best possible education in a safe and uninterrupted environment while emphasizing student achievement and character development.
A+PEL believes all teachers should be free to take control of their own career, negotiate their individual compensation, and make their own decisions about how to use time, resources, and methodologies.
A+PEL’s emphasis is on educational excellence. Education should aim to improve a young person’s character as well as his or her intellect.
Freedom of Choice
A+PEL believes educators should be free from all forms of compulsory membership and endorsements – freedom of or from association is essential to each individual.
Five finalists will be chosen by a selection committee comprised of members of the Board of Directors. These finalists will be recognized and introduced at the A+PEL Summer Conference, July 12th-14th. Each finalist will receive a free conference registration. Finalists must be present at the conference to be considered.
During the conference, attendees will decide the 2017-2018 A+PEL Member of the Year by voting in an election. Nominating members, coworkers, and fellow chapter members are strongly encouraged to attend in support of their nominee. The A+PEL Member of the Year will receive gifts and prizes valued up to $1000.
Any A+PEL member may nominate any other A+PEL member. A+PEL members may nominate more than one person for this award. Nominations must be submitted through the A+PEL website online form. Current members of the A+PEL Board of Directors or Executive Board may nominate members, but are ineligible to be nominated.
