Forum FAQ and Rules

There are a few ground rules for participation in forums hosted by Associated Professional Educators of Louisiana (A+PEL).   We do insist that you abide by the rules and policies detailed below. You agree to these terms by posting messages on these forums. By agreeing to these rules, you warrant that you will not post any messages that are obscene, vulgar, sexually-orientated, hateful, threatening, or otherwise a violation of any laws.

Only A+PEL members may view these message boards.  Messages are not considered private.  Please use discretion when posting, especially when discussing situations at school, students, and/or parents. It is best not to use names or information that might identify you and/or anyone involved.

No Personal Attacks. The purpose of this forum is to provide encouragement, advice, support, enjoyment, and education! It is a safe and friendly environment in which to share. The expectation is that visitors to the forums will be both professional and respectful. It is fine to disagree with someone, but personal attacks or disrespect will not be tolerated on this forum. Messages of this type will be removed from the forum, and repeat offenders will be banned from using the forum.

Stay on topic.  Please pay attention to the topic of your messages, and check that it still relates to the charter of the forum to which you are posting. Off-topic discussion not taken to private email, general forum, or any place where it is not considered off-topic, by someone who knows they should be taking it elsewhere, is eligible for removal from the server.

No cross-posting.  It is almost never appropriate to send the same message to two topic groups. Please don't do it.

No advocacy.  These groups are for discussions about Education. As such, a discussion about which school is better is not relevant.

Trim your follow-ups.  Do not quote the entire content of the message to which you are replying. Include only as much as is necessary for context. Remember that if someone wants to read the original message, they can; it is easily accessible. A good rule of thumb is, don't include more quoted text than new text.

Identify your subject matter.  Not everyone has time reading all forum postings. To ensure that your message reach the right people at timely manner, identify your subject matter clearly in the subject line. Subjects like "A Question" or "A Good Idea" are not very helpful. Try to summarize and describe at the same time. Take this topic "Forum Etiquette". It doesn't need to say any more or less to describe what it's about.

In respect to unlawful online activities of any member, we reserve the right to reveal your identity (or whatever information we know about you) in the event of a complaint or legal action arising from any message, submission, or action by you. All actions on the site are identified by an IP address accessible by forum administrators.

No Self-Promotion/Advertising. Please do not post any messages anywhere on this site that are primarily for the promotion or advertising of any website, forum, email address, business, activity, or other entity that you have an affiliation with (ie. no self-promotion). These types of posts will be removed from the forum.  If you have any questions, please contact the forum administrator.
