COVERAGE A - Excess Liability Coverage
|
|
The Company will pay on behalf of the insured all sums which the insured shall become obligated to pay by reason of liability imposed by law for monetary damages resulting from any CLAIM made against the insured arising out of an OCCURRENCE in the course of the activities of the insured in his/her professional capacity and caused by any acts or omissions of the insured or any other person for whose acts the insured is legally liable. The company shall defend any suit seeking monetary damages which are payable under the terms of the policy, even if such suit be groundless, false or fraudulent; but the Company may make such investigation, negotiation and settlement of any CLAIM or suit as it may deem expedient.

COVERAGE B - Bails Bond
|
|
The Company will pay the premium for bail bond(s) required of the insured but without obligation to apply for or furnish such bond(s). As respects this coverage, this policy applies only to any bail bond(s) required of the insured arising out of activities of the insured in his/her professional capacity during the policy period.

COVERAGE C - Assault Related Property Damage
|
|
To pay an Insured up to $2500 for damage to or destruction of the Insured’s personal property which is caused by an assault upon the Insured, arising out of an occurrence in the course of the Insured’s authorized course of activities in his/her professional capacity to the extent that such damages exceed the coverage provided by any Homeowner’s Personal Property Floaters or other similar valid and collectible insurance. This Coverage C does not apply to damage or destruction of a vehicle of any kind, or to damage or destruction of leased or loaned property.

COVERAGE D - Criminal Acts
|

Incurred in the defense of a criminal action or proceeding against the insured arising out of activities of the insured in
his/her professional capacity, including sexual misconduct, if found not guilty or if charges are dismissed.

ACCIDENTAL DEATH AND DISMEMBERMENT (AD&D)

|
Beneficiaries for loss of life are named in the policy in the following order of priority: spouse, children, parents, or brothers and/or sisters. If no class has a survivor, the beneficiary is the covered member’s estate. Members may specify a beneficiary by sending a written notice to A+PEL.

COVERAGE FOR PAYMENT FOR ATTORNEY FEES IN CASES OF PROFESSIONAL RIGHTS (LEGAL DEFENSE FUND)
|
|
A+PEL will pay the attorney of an insured for a CLAIM for reasonable and necessary attorney cost, which the insured is legally obligated to pay to an attorney, but without obligation to furnish such attorney, for the defense of any action brought against such insured arising out of the following activities:
- incurred in the defense of an action or proceeding against the insured involving dismissal, tenure, salary, leave of absence, assignment, resignation or other professional rights, duties and responsibilities, arising within the scope of employment;
- incurred in the defense of an action or proceeding against the insured involving the issuance, suspension, cancellation or revocation of any credential, life diploma, or certification documented issued by the State Board of Education on Credentials;
- incurred in the defense of an action or proceeding based upon an alleged violation of civil rights guaranteed by the Constitution or civil rights statutes of the United States or any state arising out of activities of the insured in his/her professional capacity and not otherwise covered in above coverage; and
- incurred in the defense of an action or proceeding alleging intentional or negligent sexual misconduct, physical abuse and/or mental abuse.

MALICIOUS PROSECUTION COVERAGE
|
|
A+PEL has up to $2,500 for you to retain a lawyer for counter charges against a student’s parent or a student’s guardian who has filed frivolous and/or groundless legal charges against you in relation to your teaching responsibilities. After the charges have been dropped by the local city police, parish sheriff office, city or district prosecutor or a judge, A+PEL will pay an attorney of your choice up to $2,500 to file counter charges on your behalf for malicious prosecution.

IDENTITY THEFT COVERAGE
|
|
A+PEL’s Personal Identity Coverage provides expert assistance and financial relief should you become a victim of identity theft. Highly trained identity theft specialists are on call 24/7 to guide A+ PEL members through the process of restoring your identity profiles and credit records.
