Government Relations
Associated Professional Educators of Louisiana (A+PEL) provides its members with comprehensive services relative to government. A+PEL maintains intimate relationships with key influential figures in government and actively solicits their support on issues affecting educators. Members receive representation before state agencies, legislative committees, and the Louisiana Legislature.
A+PEL routinely monitors and informs members of Legislative issues that are applicable to their profession. By utilizing our website, Connections newsletter, and blast emails, members are alerted of any legislation that directly impacts them. We provide an active voice in Louisiana politics and strive to represent our members in a positive manner.
A+PEL monitors the State Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE). We provide updates of activities affecting policy by posting pertinent information on the website. We also have representation on various BESE and Department of Education committees, councils, and task forces.
A+PEL works hand-in-hand with our national partner, Association of American Educators, who advocates national issues for educators and apprises us of Congressional actions impacting education. We also collaborate with various coalitions working toward the same goals, including the promotion of educators as professionals.
